Poland striker Maciej Zurawski has given his World Cup chances a boost as he spectacularly scored four goals for his club side Celtic, as they broke Scottish club records by beating Dunfermline 8-1 to go 13 points clear of Hearts of Midlothian at the top of the Scottish Premier League.

Zurawski’s Poland team-mate, goalkeeper Artur Boruc cost Celtic the lead as his mistake allowed Dunfermline defender Andy Tod to equalise after Bulgarian striker Stilian Petrov opened the scoring early in the game.

But Welsh striker John Hartson put Celtic ahead again before Zurawski took charge of the game and gave a match-winning display with the Polish striker scoring the next three goals.

Celtic then continued to assault their opponents goal, with Shaun Maloney hitting the net with a stunning volley and Celtic skipper Neil Lennon scoring a rare goal.

Zurawski then made Celtic the first ever team to score eight goals in a match in the Scottish Premier League, and which has taken the strikers goal-scoring tally to 15 this season, with eight goals in seven games.
