Paraguay striker Jose Saturnino Cardozo has been forced to withdraw from the World Cup Finals in Germany because of injury.

35-year-old Cardozo has pulled a calf muscle in his left leg, with bruising, and will be unable to play any part in the tournament.

It will be a massive blow for Paraguay head coach Anibal Ruiz, who was relying on the talents of the forward, who has 82 caps and 25 goals for his country.
