Paraguay have beaten Trinidad and Tobago's Soca Warriors 2-0 in their World Cup Group B match at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion in Kaiserslautern.

Paraguay took the lead after an own goal from Brent Sancho in the 25th minute and then sealed the win with five minutes remaining with a strike from Nelson Cuevas to end The Warriors' World Cup dreams.

There were two good saves from both keepers in the first five minutes, with Kelvin Jack saving well from a header from Roque Santa Cruz.

It was end-to-end stuff from both sides, with Paraguay getting the breakthrough in bizarre circumstances after a free-kick was awarded to Paraguay.

The free-kick was taken by Roberto Acuna, which found Julio dos Santos, who’s header was also met by T&T defender Brent Sancho, who headed in past his own keeper to make it 1-0 to Paraguay.

Denis Caniza had a goal ruled out in the 36th minute after the referee saw a handball by Edgar Barreto in the build-up.

The pressure was all from Paraguay as the half drew to a close, with T&T needing to find a spark that would get the win for any chance of progressing.

The Warriors came out fighting in the second-half, forcing some good saves from Paraguayan keeper Bobadilla, with Carlos Edwards coming close from a free-kick for T&T.

Kelvin Jack was also called into action on a couple of occasions, with both sides pressing for a goal.

Warriors and Falkirk legend Russell Latapy came on in the 67th minute to the delight of the T&T fans which gave the Carribean side a boost.

Chris Birchall came close in the 72nd, but his cannon of a shot went just wide and it was too little too late from The Warriors.

Paraguay sealed the win in the 85th minute with a strike from Nelson Cuevas to blast the World Cup dreams of the impressive T&T Warriors away.
