Saudi Arabia’s national team coach Marcos Paqueta has received a welcome lift for the national team in the shape of a £6.45m donation from the Saudi royal family to help the team reach the knockout stages of the World Cup Finals, just like during the 1994 World Cup.
The gift, presented by King Abdullah, will be used to assist the team in their preparations for the tournament.
The Saudi Arabian squad, who play Turkey in a warm-up game on Wednesday, will arrive in Germany on Sunday where they will face Argentina and Bosnia-Herzegovina in their final World Cup warm-up friendlies, before the competition begins in earnest with their first match against Tunisia on June 14.
Saudi Arabia have been drawn in Group H in the World Cup Finals alongside Spain, Ukraine and Tunisia.
