England & Palace Striker Andrew Johnson Has New £8.5m Bid From Everton, To Equal Bolton & Wigan BidsSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 26/05/2006 - 20:12.
Everton have now matched the £8.5 million bids from both Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers to try and secure the services of Crystal Palace and England standby striker Andrew Johnson. Crystal Palace have now accepted a third bid of £8.5 million for Eagles striker Johnson from Everton, equalling the bid from Wigan, and Bolton Wanderers. Bolton Wanderers had their bid for the talented 25-year-old striker accepted on Thursday after a bid of the same amount was tendered for Johnson by Wigan Athletic on Wednesday. Palace chairman Simon Jordan had provisionally accepted the bid from Wigan, but Johnson wanted some time to be able to decide on where he wanted to move to, and on Thursday an equal offer came in from Bolton manager Sam Allardyce. The England standby striker has seemingly opted for a move to the North-West, but which Premiership team from the area is now fully open to question. Jordan revealed yesterday that Everton were also showing interest in the player but had not matched his valuation, but now David Moyes' team have equalled the bid. in favorites | email this page
