The Northern Ireland squad has been named by Coach Lawrie Sanchez for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and England. The games, the first in Belfast against Azerbaijan on Saturday 3rd September, and England four days later. The team will welcome back Luton Town midfielder Stephen Robinson, who returns to the Northern Ireland squad for training, after having gone through a five-year absence. The 30-year-old, who made his last appearance against Hungary in 2000, gets a surprise recall for the two Group Six games at Windsor Park. Robinson was playing for Bournemouth when he won his five international caps. He helped Luton to the League One title last season and has impressed in the current campaign with the Hatters sitting third in the Coca-Cola Championship. Manager Lawrie Sanchez names Robinson as part of his 20-man squad for the double-header. West Ham's goalkeeper Roy Carroll, and defenders Chris Baird, and Tony Capaldi are back after missing the 1-1 draw with Malta. Northern Ireland go into the match against Azerbaijan looking to end a run of 10 games without a win, stretching back to June 2004. As if things weren't hard enough,Lawrie Sanchez now finds himself having to deny that there is a discipline problem in his squad after midfielders Jeff Whitley* and Philip Mulryne* were both sent home today for breaking a curfew. The two Cardiff players were told to leave the side's training camp, and will now miss both the World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and England. Sanchez is furious with the duo!
