Newcastle United's Michael Owen Set to Miss All England Matches From Knee Injury

Submitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Wed, 21/06/2006 - 09:46.

In a very unfortunate development for the England and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen, the second minute injury seems very serious, as he had not fully recovered from a previous one, which ruled him out of the second half of the 2005/2006 Premiership season.

Michael Owen also faces a lengthy recovery process which will probably rule him out for the start of the Premiership, although the severity of his injury is yet to be determined by England's medical team.

Even though nobody wanted to make comments about Owen's injury last night, the news are very worrying for England's manager, who faces the prospect of fielding Theo Walcott next to Rooney, as some of the key England players face suspension if they get booked again.

"It doesn’t look very good for him and for us... How much time it will take we don’t know," England's coach Sven-Goran Eriksson told reporters, declining to give any further details on Michael Owen's injury.

"I think it’s a bad one. We’ll have to see what the doctors say."

The news deal a major blow to Newcastle United, who spent millions to bring Owen to the Club. Owen now faces the prospect of loosing even the first couple of months of next season's Premiership season.
