Newcastle & Inter Milan Target Not Available For Transfer - Fiorentina President Says Italian World Cup Winner Luca Toni Stays
Italy's World Cup winning striker Luca Toni will not be leaving Fiorentina according the club president Cesare Prandelli despite interest from Serie A champions Inter Milan and Premiership-side Newcastle United.
Azzurri World Cup star Toni, who was Serie A’s top-scorer last season with a tally of 31 goals in the Italian league, has been linked with a number of clubs since Fiorentina were relegated to Serie B (the Italian second division), with both Inter Milan and Premiership side Newcastle United.
Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder sees him as the ideal replacement for former club-captain and England legend Alan Shearer and as cover for Michael Owen who is out injured for the coming months.
But Viola president Prandelli has said that they are not considering selling any players, saying: “I guarantee that nobody will leave Fiorentina, even if it is confirmed that our future lies in Serie B,”
“I can claim this because De La Valle (the Fiorentina owner) has confirmed this.”
