Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are looking to reinforce their strike force with reports suggesting that they are keen to sign Norwegian striker John Carew from Olympique Lyon.

The German side are preparing to bolster the upfront department in case the Germany international striker Miroslav Klose opts to leave the current Bundesliga leaders.

It is understood that Klose has been interested in a move to Europe’s most competitive league with Premiership leaders Manchester United being linked with the hit-man.

"He's (Carew’s) one of the players we're interested in," Werder manager Klaus Allofs told German media. "The transfer conditions would have to be right."

Werder lead the table on goal difference from Schalke 04 at the halfway stage of the season.
