Middlesbrough Announce News Conference For Wednesday With Gareth Southgate Expected To Be Named As Boss
Middlesbrough have called a press conference for 2pm on Wednesday regarding the successor to Steve McClaren for the Boro manager's job.
Although the Boro board are remaining tight-lipped about the reason for the conference to be called, it is expected be the unveiling of Middlesbrough captain Gareth Southgate as the new manager, but it has been said that Boro will need permission from his fellow Premiership managers in order to get a pro-license for management.
Earlier on Wednesday, the League Managers Asssociation Chief Executive John Barnwell said that Boro had been refused permission, and that Southgate won't be able to take the position.
Even though it would only take 13 votes from his fellow Premiership managers to be able to get the necessary dispensation, the Middlesbrough board are confident that Southgate will be able to take the position, citing the appointment of Glenn Roeder to their local rivals Newcastle, even though he does not hold a full-license.
