Mexico's Goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez Leaves Germany After Father Dies

Ricardo Lavolpe's squad are left without their first-choice goalkeeper after unexpected death of his father who was due to arrive in Germany and watch Oswaldo play in the World Cup 2006 Finals.

In an unexpected incident which shocked the whole team, Oswaldo Sanchez left Germany today for an urgent return to Mexico after an unfortunate phonecall from his relatives, a statement from the Mexican Football Federation read.

The Federation said that they are due to make another statement later on in the day about whether they will replace him in the squad and that consultations with FIFA, the governing body of World Football, will also take place.
