Mexico Striker Jared Borgetti Keen to Earn Place in Bolton Team Despite Rumours of Mexico Return

Mexico’s record goalscorer Jared Borgetti has insisted he has no intention of leaving Bolton Wanderers in January’s transfer window, despite rumours that the 31-year-old is eyeing a return to Mexico.

The Mexico striker has been failing to secure a regular place in Bolton manager Sam Allardyce's starting eleven, and has seemingly struggled to adapt to the English style of play since arriving in Bolton in the summer in a £1.5million deal from the Mexican club Pachuca, and is yet to start an English Premiership game.

Sam Allardyce has consistently overlooked Borgetti in favour of Kevin Davies, despite Borgetti having scored four times for Bolton in cup competitions already this year.

But Borgetti has no intention of leaving, insisting, “Going back to Mexico has never been in my head.”

“If I'm sad it's because I'm not playing. I will stay here and keep training until I play.”

Allardyce has also dismissed the rumours as untrue, and has insisted that no players would be leaving Bolton Wanderers when the transfer window opens in just over one week's time.
