Match Preview – Andorra V England – Three Lions Need Tonic To Resurrect Euro Campaign – Lampard To Be Replaced By Hargreaves

England need a tonic to get back the energy and put their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign back on track and tonight’s clash with 163rd ranked Andorra could be a perfect opportunity for Steve McClaren’s side to run into some kind of form.

Three Lions are third with 8 points in Group E, which is led by Croatia on 13 points. Russia are second with 11.

Embattled McClaren, who has got full backing of the players as well as the Football Association, would expect his strikers, Wayne Rooney in particular, to find the back of the net at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, as England have just scored one goal in their last five winless matches - their worst run since 1981.

The Manchester United ace has not scored a competitive goal at international level since Euro 2004.

Andorra, who have won only one competitive match in their history - a win over Macedonia in October 2004, may look a stark mismatch but England are under tremendous pressure coming into this match following their goalless draw against Israel in Tel Aviv on Saturday – a match expected to be won by the star-studded English.

Rooney and Everton's Andy Johnson failed to make any impact in Israel but McClaren might field the same pair although he has options of Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermain Defoe and Preston’s David Nugent.

In the midfield, Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, who has a wrist injury, will be replaced by Bayern Munich’s Owen Hargreaves. Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard will play in a central position while Tottenham's Aaron Lennon on right and Middlesbrough's Stewart Downing will start on left.

Lampard picked up the problem after being struck by a shot from Rooney in Monday's training session.

The former West Ham ace took part in Tuesday’s training session with his right wrist heavily strapped. Scans have shown that Lampard has fractured the wrist and ruptured ligaments.

At the back, Micah Richards and Ashley Cole are expected to replace Phil Neville and Jamie Carragher in the full-back roles, while skipper John Terry and Rio Ferdinand will marshal the heart of the defence.

Andorra coach David Rodrigo is again expected to stick to his favoured 4-5-1 formation in an effort to frustrate the England attack early on.
