Spanish World Cup star Fernando Torres has now pledged his immediate future to Atlético Madrid despite major transfer interest from both Manchester United and Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old Spanish forward ended the long speculation about his possible transfer this summer, with the talented striker pledging himself to the club for the coming season at least.

Torres, speaking to marca.es said: “I want to stay. There has been a lot of discussion during my holiday about my possible exit but the reality is that I am here for another year.”

The Furia Roja striker continued: “If I had wanted to leave Atlético Madrid I would have done, because there has been no lack of offers.

“Big clubs have come in for me, but nothing has made me change my mind.”

Torres finished saying: “I am an Atlético player, I am under contract, and I want to spend many years here.”
