Man Utd's Wayne Rooney Passed Fit For England - Spurs' Defoe Now Looking To Euro 2008

England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been passed fit, and will expect to play some part in the World Cup Finals in Germany after his medical scan came back positive.

He returned to the clinic in Manchester where he underwent the scan on his broken metatarsal earlier on Wednesday, to discuss the results with the specialists.

He was accompanied by the Football Association executive director David Davies to the Whalley Range clinic in Manchester to get the results.

Now that Rooney has got the nod from the England and Manchester United medical teams, Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe will know that there is now no way he will replace Rooney in the 23-man England squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany.

Rooney had a definite smile on his face as he left the Whalley Range clinic in Manchester, with both men leaving in the same car and heading together to the airport to return to Germany to join the England team in Baden Baden in Germany.

I hope that Rooney does not suffer too much. He is a great player and he is very young. So, even if he misses most of this world cup he can surely play for years to come.
