Man United’s Rio Ferdinand & Tottenham’s Dawson Are Ruled Out – Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher Likely Replacement For England
Steve McClaren’s England received more injury blows as Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand and Tottenham Hotspur’s Michael Dawson are ruled out of June 1 friendly against Brazil at Wembley and Euro 2008 qualifier away in Estonia on June 6, with groin injuries.
The Three Lions are already without Gary Neville, Micah Richards, Ashley Cole and Jonathan Woodgate, while Wayne Bridge is doubtful with a hip problem
With Ferdinand out, Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher is likely to partner skipper John Terry in central defence. While Spurs skipper Ledley King and United’s Wes Brown will provide the cover.
Three Lions’ strike-force is also depleted for the crucial Estonia match as Andy Johnson is out with an injury while Wayne Rooney is suspended.
