Man City & England Under-21 Boss Stuart Pearce Reassures Steve McClaren Saying Criticism "Is Part Of The Job"
England international Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce has advised England boss Steve McClaren to consider criticism from fans as merely an occupational hazard.
Pearce, who is also the Manchester City manager, said: "It (the fans abuse) is part of the job. The natural thing nowadays is that everyone has an opinion, and I suppose that is what makes the game so good.
“Someone is viewing one player as outstanding and the next one does not understand that in any shape or form. But that is why we talk about football more than anything else in our lives.
“Everyone outside the job knows how to do it better. Then, when someone else is in the seat, you can turn around and say you know it better than they do. That is the beauty of this game.”
McClaren has been under-fire recently after a string of poor performances, which sees England lying in fourth-place in Group E of EURO 2008 qualifying, behind leaders Croatia, and equal on points with Russia and Israel, but having played a game more than both Croatia and Russia.
