Chelsea midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips is being targeted by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

The England international, who failed to make Sven Goran Eriksson's World Cup squad due to his lack of first-team action at Stamford Bridge following his £21million summer move from Manchester City last summer and is thought to be keen on a move.

His lack of first-team action is no doubt what cost him his place in the national squad for the World Cup Finals – when, during his time at City, he was considered one of the biggest up-and=coming talents in the game.

Liverpool are eager to make some important summer signings and have indicated that they have funds to spend – with Benitez reported to be willing to offer £14million to secure the signature of Wright-Phillips.
