Liverpool & Man Utd Show Interest In Spanish World Cup Star Guti From Real Madrid - Reds Boss Benitez Reported To Be In Spain

Both Manchester United and Liverpool are chasing the transfer of Real Madrid midfielder Guti after the Spanish World Cup star appears to be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabéu.

It has been reported that Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has flown out to Spain this week to tie up a transfer deal for long-term Liverpool target, Sevilla’s Daniel Alves, but Guti (real name José María Gutiérrez Hernández) may emerge to be another person that he has travelled to Spain to sign.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also said to be interested in securing a deal with the Spanish midfielder, who looks likely for a move from the Bernabéu this summer.

Guti is not thought to be part of new Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello’s plans, with reports in Spain suggesting that Benitez has been monitoring the 29-year-old La Furia Roja star for some time, with a transfer to Anfield in mind.

Guti, seemingly aware of his position at Real, told Spanish reporters: “If new people come in or if the coach decides I’m not going to play then the best thing is to do something new.”
