Liverpool FC Increase Bid to £6 Million For Blackburn Rovers & Wales' Bellamy, Cisse Linked With Marseilles Loan-MoveSubmitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Sat, 17/06/2006 - 02:04.
Liverpool's manager Rafael Benitez is keen to secure a deal with Blackburn Rovers for the signature of Craig Bellamy for a summer move to Anfield, with a £6million offer on the table from the Merseyside giants. According to the Times, Liverpool have "provisionally" secured a deal with Marseilles for France's injured striker Djibril Cisse for him to move to the French Championnat giants on a loan deal. Former Liverpool and current Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has shown interest, having signed him as Liverpool boss in 2004, but now the loan move may prove to be the best answer for Benitez. Liverpool were hoping to sell Cisse, however after his injury with the French national football team in their friendky against China, this was ruled-out. The Times also said that Benitez knows about the 'clause' in Bellamy's contract with Blackburn Rovers, which allows the Wales international player to get into talks with Clubs offering to pay over £6 million. Any such deal must be agreed by the 30th of June, otherwise Bellamy will be included in Blackburn Rover's plans for the next Premiership season. Liverpool might additionally offer Sinama Pongolle - who was on-loan to Blackburn last season - as a part-exchange and could be a decisive factor in the deal, as the cost of losing Bellamy for Rovers might be unbearable. in favorites | email this page
