Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has pledged to reproduce his club form for England at next summer's World Cup Finals.

25-year-old Gerrard came 7th in this week's FIFA World Player of the Year awards, taking note of his stunning club form at the moment, but Gerrard has yet to consistently find his top form in international matches, something that he is quick to admit.

"I still say the world hasn't seen the best of me for England yet - although I have played some good games," he said. "But this is now a great stage for me to go there and do well." Said the Liverpool star.

With Liverpool showing marked signs of improvement since the Spanish manager Rafa Benitez arrived at Anfield, Gerrard, who lifted the Champions League trophy for Liverpool in Istanbul in May, is ready to transfer his stunning club performances to England.

Gerrard, having played in the European Championships five years ago, missed the last World Cup in the Far East due to injury, and was a shadow of the player he now is in Euro 2004 after being distracted by transfer speculation linking him to Chelsea.

“The first tournament I went to in 2000, I was just a young lad and it was about getting the experience,” said the Liverpool captain.

“But I'm really looking forward to this one and I'm confident I can go there and do well.”

Gerrard, of course, has fond memories of playing for England in Germany, having scored the second goal in that unforgettable 5-1 World Cup qualifying victory over the German’s in Munich in 2001.

“Obviously the England players are focusing on our club football at the moment but, at the same time, you can't help thinking about it. It's so exciting,” finished Gerrard.
