Liverpool Boss Rafa Benitez: "Spurs Are Desperate To Sell Defoe" As Links With Cisse To Spurs IncreaseSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 24/03/2006 - 16:05.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has said that links with a move for France striker Djibril Cisse to Tottenham Hotspur are unfounded. Speaking at a press conference prior to Liverpool's Premiership encounter with local rivals Everton tomorrow, said that he was happy with his current squad, and that the links with Cisse and Spurs were, as yet, unfounded. Liverpool have been consistently linked with a move for the England striker, who is unhappy about his lack of first team play with Spurs, and manager Martin Jol has made no effort to disguise the fact that the striker is unsettled and wants a move. "There are always links with Jermain Defoe. They are desperate for selling Defoe and are trying to sell Defoe." said Benitez "They always use Cisse in the middle, I don't know why. But It's not our problem. "We are thinking about our players. I don't need to talk with him [Cisse]. He is our player, he is working hard, they always talk about him when they talk about Defoe. "Maybe, I say before, they are desperate to sell Defoe and want to do something. "At this moment, I am happy with my team," finished the Reds boss. Liverpool have today been drawn against the Premiership champions Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup, in ties to be played at the end of April. in favorites | email this page
