Liverpool Boss Benitez Renews Interest in Holland & Feyenoord Striker Dirk Kuyt After The Reds Seal Deal With Former Arsenal Man

Liverpool are believed to have re-opened negotiations with Dutch club-side Feyenoord for Holland World Cup striker Dirk Kuyt, after the completion of the transfer of Jermaine Pennant to Anfield.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, who is currently away in Switzerland with the senior squad at a training camp, is currently in the process of trying to sell some of players to give him the finances to attempt another move for Kuyt.

The 25-year-old Feyenoord striker has been a target of both Liverpool and Newcastle among other Premiership clubs, and has already stated his desire to play in The Premiership.

Now, after Feyenoord's failure to qualify for the Champions League next season, he may well choose to leave the Rotterdam club, with Liverpool still the most likely to sign Kuyt.

Initially, Feyenoord were talking about £12million for Kuyt, but Feyenoord may be forced to reluctantly accept an offer in the region of £10m (€14m) for Kuyt.

Feyenoord have turned down one cash-plus-players offer from Liverpool believed to have involved Dutch international defender Jan Kromkamp and Champions League winning hero Jerzy Dudek, which was turned down after failing to meet a deadline from Feyenoord.

Now that Liverpool have agreed to spend £6.7million on Pennant, with another £300,000 linked to appearances, rather than £6.2million, Benitez will now still have cash to spend.
