Lagerback Confident About Sweden & Stade Rennais Goalkeeper Andreas IsakssonSubmitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Mon, 12/06/2006 - 01:44.
Sweden's coach Lars Lagerback said that he might recall Andreas Isaksson into the starting line-up of the World Cup Group B match against Paraguay. "Andreas returned to training with a light workout and I hope that he will be available again to face Paraguay," the Swedish coach told the AFP. A few days ago he got injured in training when a strong shot was deflected on his face. It was initially anticipated that the injury was severe and that the Stade Rennais goalkeeper wouldn't make it for Sweden's remaining Group B matches. The team was held to a goal-less draw in its opening match against Trinidad and Tobago's Soca Warriors. The result slashed the teams chances of progressing to the next round of the World Cup 2006. Sweden's match against Paraguay is crucial for both teams, in order to ensure qualification to the next stage. Paraguay lost to England during the Group B opening match, with an own goal. Paraguay proved that they are not gonna be an easy opponent, as pressure on the team from back home is mounting. in favorites | email this page
