Korea Republic Beaten By Denmark 3-2 In Final Of Carlsberg Cup With Croatia Finishing Third
Denmark have dented Korea Republic's World Cup Final’s preparations, after coming back from a goal down to beat Korea 3-1 to lift the Carlsberg Cup in Hong Kong.
South Korea's Cho Jae-jin put his side ahead after 13 minutes before Lars Jacobsen levelled four minutes before the half-time break.
Despite the Koreans' pressure early in the second half, Jesper Bech put Denmark in front after 66 minutes, with Michael Silberbauer sealing the victory for Denmark a minute from time.
The tournament was part of a six-week preparation period for the Korea Republic during which they are playing a series of friendlies ahead of the World Cup finals in Germany in June, and with the AFC Asian Cup 2007 qualifiers also coming up for the Korean’s to prepare for.
Earlier in the tournament, fellow FIFA World Cup finalists Croatia were beaten by the Korea Republic 2-0, but finished by beating Hong Kong 4-0 to end up third in the four-team tournament.
