Korea Republic Coach Advocaat Touted To Succeed Hiddink As Either PSV Or Australia CoachSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Sun, 30/04/2006 - 17:46.
Korea Republic head coach Dick Advocaat looks set to quit his post as boss of the South Korean’s after the World Cup Finals in Germany and may succeed Guus Hiddink in one of his two current roles. Advocaat’s departure from the South Korea job has yet again fuelled speculation that he will either return to PSV Eindhoven as successor to Guus Hiddink, or otherwise there has also been rumours that he might succeed Hiddink as Australia coach after the World Cup, as well as being linked with the job at Zenit St Petersburg. Advocaat’s link to the Eindhoven job was increased when PSV revealed that they had appointed Advocaats former No.2 at Glasgow Rangers, Jan Wouters, to be the assistant to the future manager. The two men have already worked together at PSV as well as at Rangers, and that has further shortened the odds on Advocaat replacing Hiddink. Advocaat, during an interview with De Telegraaf said: “It would not be strange to get a call from PSV - I know the club, they know who they sign and I think it would be a nice challenge. “It's true that several sides have shown their interest in me but at the moment I have no concrete negotiations with anyone,” said the experienced 58-year-old coach. “I want to stay on the field anyway for some more years.” “Between 1995 and 1998 I had a fantastic time there [at Ajax] with success.” in favorites | email this page
