Tottenham Hotspur have beaten South African club side Kaiser Chiefs 2-1 in their pre-season friendly in Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs opened the scoring in the first-half, after Robbie Keane cleverly broke through on a Kaiser Chief back pass, toe-poking the ball over the Kaiser Chiefs keeper Emile Baron and into the net.

The Chiefs pulled a goal back early in the second-half with former Charlton Athletic star Shaun Bartlett heading home an equaliser as the Chiefs came out for the second-half with far more intent.

Tottenham had made some changes at half-time but it was Spurs' new signing Darren Bent, who came on as a substitute in the 57th minute, who immediately made his presence felt.

Bent made a decent run down the wing, squaring the ball to Dimitar Berbatov, who slid the ball into the net from close range to make it 2-1.

The game slowed as it came to a close, with neither side too keen to push and neither side wanting to commit too heavily.

The game finished 2-1 to Spurs, with their next friendly match to be played on Tuesday against the Orlando Pirates.
