Jurgen Klinsmann Names His 23-Man Germany Squad For The World Cup 2006Submitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Mon, 15/05/2006 - 15:24.
The German World Cup Finals Squad was announced by Klinsmann with only two surprises in the squad. The previously uncapped Borussia Dortmund midfielder David Odonkor was called in to replace Bayern Munich's star Sebastian Deisler. Deisler was ruled out of the Finals due to his knee injury which will keep him away from action. "Odonkor can give us something we are missing," Klinsmann said about the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. "We need something after Deisler's injury. He is quick and has a lot to offer. "He was delighted when I informed him over the phone. I just told him that he does not need to worry. He has Under-21 caps and we are taking half that team with us to the World Cup." "Jens Nowotny brings a lot of experience. He has played in lot of tournaments and knows what it takes. We need different alternatives in central defence as (Christoph) Metzelder is still struggling with injury." Goalkeepers: Jens Lehmann (Arsenal/Eng), Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich), Timo Hildebrand (VfB Stuttgart) Defenders: Arne Friedrich (Hertha Berlin), Robert Huth (Chelsea/Eng), Marcell Jansen (Borussia Monchengladbach), Per Mertesacker (Hannover), Christoph Metzelder (Borussia Dortmund), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Jens Nowotny (Bayer Leverkusen) Midfielders: Michael Ballack (Bayern Munich), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich), Tim Borowski (Werder Bremen), Torsten Frings (Werder Bremen), Sebastian Kehl (Borussia Dortmund), Bernd Schneider (Bayer Leverkusen), Thomas Hitzlsperger (VfB Stuttgart), David Odonkor (Borussia Dortmund) Strikers: Miroslav Klose (Werder Bremen), Lukas Podolski (FC Cologne), Mike Hanke (VfL Wolfsburg), Oliver Neuville (Borussia Monchengladbach), Gerald Asamoah (Schalke 04) in favorites | email this page

Bravo Juergen Klinsmann....Germany is one of the capable team to win world cup..with the squad,i think it is good enough for germany to challenge all the contestant. But i think Mehmet Scholl or Dietmar Hamann is more capable and more experience than Hitzlsperger. Scholl or Hamann's experienced is needed to motivated the young player at team..Bravo Germany!!!
