Jonathan Woodgate's World Cup Hopes Suffer Major Set-Back After Injury In Champions League Match V Arsenal

Jonathan Woodgate's World Cup hopes have suffered a set-back after injuring himself in Real Madrid's Champions League tie against Arsenal.

The England defender was forced from the pitch after only ten minutes of play with a hamstring injury, and now could be sidelined for some time.

Woodgate is finally fully fit after being out of action for almost two years with injury problems and has been on top-form for the Spanish giants in defence this season – even winning a man-of-the-match award for Real Madrid last weekend.

Woodgate was hoping to secure a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad for the World Cup Finals, and as yet the extent of the injury is not known, but he will definitely miss being named in Sven's England squad to face Uruguay.

Eriksson will name the squad to face Uruguay on Saturday, and the full squad list will be published here on WorldCupLatest.com.
