Yasushi Yoshida has named his 21-man Japan squad for the Under-20 World Cup Finals 2007, Canada. Japan have been drawn in Group F, with Scotland, Nigeria and Costa Rica. Experienced Japanese captain and centre back Yohei Fukumoto is a capable and talented defender, and alongside fellow defender Yohei Fukumoto will hope to quash any threat from the Scots. There is more experience in Sanfrecce Hiroshima midfielder Yosuke Kashiwagi who, as well as scoring three goals, had a hand in most of Japan’s goals in qualification for the Finals. The is a wealth of experience in the Japan squad, with fellow midfielders Tsukasa Umesaki who plays with Oita Trinita, and Albirex Niigata’s Atomu Tanaka, as well as Kashima Antlers defender Atsuto Uchida all first-team regulars for their respective J.League clubs. Asia runners-up Japan have been drawn in Group F, alongside European runners-up Scotland, 2005 losing finalists Nigeria and Costa Rica.
