Iran's coach Branko Ivankovic chose his 23-man squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany after a weeklong training camp in Switzerland. Captain Ali Daei was also included in the squad, as Ivankovic counts on his invaluable experience with the national team. The squad consists of mainly Iran based players, but also has three Germany-based players, Bayern Munich's Ali Karimi, Hamburg's Mehdi Mahdavikia and Hannover's Vahid Hashemian, and Messina's defender Rahman Razaei. Iran have been drawn in Group D in the World Cup Finals, alongside Mexico, Angola and Portugal.
