Holland & Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt Has Renewed Bid From Liverpool - Spain's Morientes Likely To GoSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Wed, 24/05/2006 - 06:37.
Holland and Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt has revealed that Liverpool have renewed their interest in him, and have made a massive new bid for a summer transfer. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez almost signed the Feyenoord centre forward last summer, after the clubs agreed an £8m fee (€11.5 million), only for the price to soar to £14m. Kuyt has long been linked with a move to The Premiership, and the striker, who has been chosen by Netherlands boss Marco van Basten to feature in the 23-man Oranje World Cup squad, is now waiting for the clubs to come to an agreement. “The president, Jorien van den Herik, has informed me of a new approach from last year's European Champions, but it is out of my hands,” said Kuyt. "I have several opportunities but it is now down to Feyenoord. I am happy in Holland with them, but I would like to play in the Premier League…and they know that." 25-year-old Kuyt is seen at Anfield as the ideal replacement for Spain striker Fernando Morientes, who is wanted by Real Betis. Morientes’ agent said on Tuesday that there was no-way that Morientes would be returning to play in Spain next season, but it very much looks like the Spanish striker is on his way out of Anfield. Liverpool's French defender Djimi Traore has also been told to find himself a new club, with both Manchester City and Fulham said to be interested in signing the 26-year-old defender. in favorites | email this page
