Holland Boss Van Basten Thinks Man Utd Striker Van Nistelrooy Will Give Oranje Cup Glory
Holland head coach and Oranje footballing legend Marco van Basten remains confident that troubled Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy can lead Holland to World Cup Finals success.
The former PSV Eindhoven star's future at Manchester United may be in doubt following his fall out with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but van Basten has faith that the 29-year-old will be a major threat to the opposition, that will help Holland in their bid for glory this summer in Germany.
The pressure is on van Nistelrooy, after the likes of Bayern Munich's Roy Makaay and Ajax starlet Klaas Jan Huntelaar were left out of the 23-man Oranje squad by the Dutch coach, but he is a proven scorer at the highest level for both his country and United.
Van Basten believes that van Nistelrooy will not let the side down, saying: "I do not have any problems with Ruud.
"I am totally confident in his ability. Ruud is a person who likes to work hard and he likes to win.”
