Paraguay have taken a 1-0 lead into half-time against Trinidad and Tobago in their Group B match at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion in Kaiserslautern.

Paraguay took the lead after an own goal from Brent Sancho in the 25th minute.

There were two good saves from both keepers in the first five minutes, with Kelvin Jack saving well from a header from Roque Santa Cruz.

It was end-to-end stuff from both sides, with Paraguay getting the breakthrough in bizarre circumstances after a free-kick was awarded to Paraguay.

The free-kick was taken by Roberto Acuna, which found Julio dos Santos, who’s header was also met by T&T defender Brent Sancho, who headed in past his own keeper.

Denis Caniza had a goal ruled out in the 36th minute after the referee saw a handball by Edgar Barreto in the build-up.

The pressure was all from Paraguay as the half drew to a close, with T&T needing a win for any chance of progressing.
