Ghana’s Black Stars have secured an excellent away victory against Saudi Arabia in their first International friendly match in preparation for next year’s African Nations Cup and World Cup finals, by comfortably beating their fellow World Cup 2006 contenders Saudi Arabia 3-1 in Riyadh.

Black Stars Coach Ratomir Dujkovic was without the services of two of Ghana’s leading players, Chelsea FC midfielder Michael Essien and captain Stephen Appiah who plays for Italian Serie A side AS Roma due to illness.

Saudi Arabia took the lead, thoroughly against the run of play, in the 36th minute from a goal by Nawaf Al Temyat, but it only took 5 minutes for Ghana to reply, a goal which came from another Italian based player, Udinese’s Sulley Muntari, who equalized for the West African’s in the 41st minute.

Striker Asamoah Gyan netted the two other goals, one either side of the break for the Ghana Black Stars, as they maintained their impressive form against the Saudi’s, who have yet again easily qualified from the Asia Zone of qualification for next year's World Cup Finals in Germany.
