Ghana & South Korea Struggle To Find Stadium In Scotland For International Friendly In JuneSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Wed, 19/04/2006 - 14:38.
Ghana and South Korea are struggling to find a stadium in Scotland to stage their pre-World Cup international friendly. The teams, who have both qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, will play a World Cup warm-up friendly match in Scotland on June 4 just a week before the Finals kick-off on June 9. But they are struggling to find a stadium to host the game because most of the playing surfaces are under repair at the end of the domestic season. Former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat will take his South Korean squad, including Manchester United's Park Ji-Sung and Lee Young-Pyo from Tottenham Hotspur, to Murray Park for a two-week training camp. The Ghana Black Stars, coached by Ratomir Dujkovic, will be making their first ever appearance at the World Cup Finals and whose star player is Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, will travel up to Scotland for the match from their base in London. Hamilton Academicals are the only Scottish side to have so far offered a solution, but due to the fact that the pitch is artificial, neither side are too keen to use the facilities. However Dennis D'Arcy, who is the match agent for the game, said: “We have an agreement in place with an SPL club but I can't divulge the details until the contracts are exchanged.” in favorites | email this page
