Ghana Black Stars Striker Matthew Amoah Hopes For A Big Move To The English PremiershipSubmitted by Matt Vance on Mon, 28/11/2005 - 22:00.
Ghana striker Matthew Amoah has spoken of his desire to move to the English Premier League. The player, who currently plies his trade for Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch First Division, is in the final year of his contract. In conversation with Voetbal International he indicated his wish to test himself on a larger stage. "After the World Cup I am a free agent and if I do a good job there, there is a chance a big club will come in for me.” However, he didn’t rule out a move in the January transfer window. "Vitesse is looking to get some cash for me, but I am the only one who makes the decision on my future. But if such a club comes in for me during the winter break, that would be okay." When asked his preferred destination the free-scoring 25-year-old added "I certainly prefer England, I am looking for a club in the Premiership." The player, whose goals played a pivotal part in Ghana’s qualification to FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, would join fellow national team-mate Michael Essien - following his £24 million transfer to current Premiership leaders Chelsea - as only the second Ghanaian international player in England’s top division. in favorites | email this page
