Ghana’s Black Stars will camp in the city of Wurzburg, Germany ahead of the FIFA World Cup Finals in June. The decision to camp in Wurzburg is upon an arrangement by the main kit sponsors of the Ghana Black Stars, PUMA, whose headquarters are just a few kilometers away from the city.

The Black Stars will be based in Wurzburg from their arrival on May 15th, 2006 ahead of the World Cup soccer tournament, which kicks-off on the 9 June, with the Black Stars first match, against Italy, on 12 June.

Dr. Stefan Oschmann, who is arranging the Black Stars’ accommodation while in Wurzburg, arrived in Ghana’s capital, Accra, two days ago to finalise arrangements with Kofi Nsiah, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association.

As part of the final arrangements, he also presented a flag of the city and some documents containing the details of the city to the GFA.

Speaking on Ghana radio’s CITI FM, Dr. Oschmann emphasized that the entire inhabitants of Wurzburg are ready with open arms to welcome the Black Stars, insisting that plans have been made for the Stars to be given the best of treatment ahead of their debut in the World Cup Finals.

The team will train in Wuerzburger FV’s “Kickers” Stadium located in the city for their Group E matches against Italy, the USA and the Czech Republic.
