Steven Gerrard is seeming to be making a swift recovery from his calf injury, possibly in time to face Wales this Saturday in the vital FIFA group 6 World Cup qualifier in Cardiff.

The England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson believes midfielder Steven Gerrard will overcome his injury in time to meet the Welsh 'Dragons'.

In regards to gerrard having missed training with the rest of the squad Eriksson said, "Steve Gerrard did some good work on Tuesday, not with the other players but with the physio".

"Hopefully on Thursday he will train with us. The physio and doctor think he will be ready for Saturday."

With Chelsea's John Terry ruled out through injury, the talismanic Gerrard's presence would be a crucial addition to the England set-up.
