Germany and Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has made history by being the first man to ever be sent off in a European Cup Final.

The German goalstopper was sent off for bringing down Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o in the penalty area in the 18th minute of the Champions League final in the Stade de France, just outside Paris.

Lehmann came flying out of his area, colliding with the Cameroon striker in a tackle from which Arsenal were lucky to escape with a free-kick just on the edge of the penalty-area.

Lehmann was replaced by Spanish keeper Almunia, with Frenchman Robert Pires, possibly playing his last game for the Gunners, making way for the keeper.
