Germany Drop Out Of Top 20 In FIFA Rankings, USA Reach Highest Placing Ever, France Drop, Brazil Stay Top

The FIFA World rankings for March have been published, with Brazil still topping the table, with the Czech Republic second and the Netherlands third.

Germany, the hosts of the upcoming World Cup Finals, are the only team that have been seeded for the Finals, that are not in the top 20 in the rankings.

Germany’s recent 4-1 mauling away to Italy has seen Jürgen Klinsmann’s team drop three places and out of the top 20, behind African Cup of Nations champions, Egypt.

Bruce Arena’s United States have moved into the top five for the first time since FIFA's world rankings began in 1993 after publication of the March list on Wednesday, being one of the biggest movers after having played four friendlies in the past month.

Brazil remain the clear leaders, with the Czech Republic and the Netherlands unmoved in positions two and three respectively, one point apart.

Argentina are fourth and the USA have moved up to fifth, up from their shared sixth place in February.

France are the biggest droppers in the top 10, moving down from fifth to eighth after their surprise 2-1 home defeat by Slovakia on March 1.

The March rankings cover 82 matches comprising 21 qualifiers for the Asian Cup 2007 and 61 friendlies.
