A recent survey published yesterday in Germany shows an increase in public opinion about Germany's World Cup prospects. The survey was held between the 16th and the 17th of December and was held by Emnid.

The survey was conducted on behalf of Bildwoche TV magazine and found that 39% of Germans believe that Klinsmann's side can win the World Cup, held in Germany next summer.

Even though the survey shows an increase in German public opinion for those who believe Germany can lift the trophy, still 58% of the survey participants say that they don't believe Germany can become the next World Champion.

After Leipzig's draw, which took place on the 9th of December, only 18% of Germans believed the national football team can win the trophy. The increase of this portion of public opinion shows that the Germans are much more optimistic than before.

Of course, Germany's appearance in the International Friendly games that the German Football Federation has arranged, part of Germany's preparation for the World Soccer tournament, will pretty much impact public opinion in the coming months.

A few months ago, when Germany lost to Turkey by 2-1, followed by a dissapointing appearance in Germany's 1-0 win over China, only 3% of Germans thought that their national football team would become the next World Champions.

Bookmakers in England and abroad favour Brazil to retain it's World Champion status at next summer's tournament. The next favourites are England, followed by Germany and Argentina.
