George Best In "Critical" Condition And On Life Support As Fears For His Health Grow

George Best is today reported to be in "Critical" condition, and on a life support machine in the Intensive Care Unit of London's Cromwell Hospital.

The legendary Northern Ireland and Manchester United striker was yesterday re-admitted to intensive care, just nine days after leaving the IC Unit, with a "new and severe" infection, and latest reports confirm that Best is on a life-support machine, and said his condition was "Critical but stable".

In an statement on Friday afternoon, his specialist at the exclusive West London hospital where George Best was admitted six weeks ago, Professor Roger Williams, confirmed that Best had contracted a "new and severe infection" of the kidneys.

He added that the medical team that are treating 59-year-old Best were disturbed by the sudden setback in his health, after his condition had been appearing to improve in the last fortnight.

Best was first admitted into the intensive care unit with a chest infection and internal bleeding in early October, where he stayed throughout the month, and only came out of just nine days ago.
