A much more positive French squad assembled ahead of their next two crucial matches. Key to the new found enthusiasm is the return to the fold of Zidane and his fellow old stagers including Makelele who are seeking to help restore France to it's former glories as a European super team.

There is a steely resolve among the squad to put matters right, however, privately, squad members admit that they fear Israel may well end up bringing about their downfall by winning their remaining matches.

Apart from worrying about Israel's threat in the table, there is a tricky encounter with the Faroe Islands to negotiate, then The Republic Of Ireland, who will make them know that they have been in a game, both tactically and physically.
