French World Cup winning midfielder, and Real Madrid star, Zinedine ‘Zizou’ Zidane, has denied newspaper claims that he is planning to retire from football after the World Cup Finals this summer. Reports from Spain had suggested that the 33-year-old France international told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he planned to quit football for good after the World Cup finals, which start on June 9. I let others talk, and I try to remain focused on what I have to do.” But, for the moment, Zizou’s plans of retirement are on hold, and his thought’s are going nowhere beyond June, and playing for 'Les Bleus' in the World Cup Finals in Germany. Zidane scored his first career hat trick against Sevilla last Saturday, and said that he now feels he is coming back to top-form at the right time to help France in the showpiece tournament. “I had a groin problem that lasted a long time, and also an ankle problem, but now I'm a lot better physically.” “I will try, with my team-mates, to achieve a beautiful World Cup, and then we will see next season,” finished the star midfielder. in favorites | email this page
