Former Germany and Scotland coach Berti Vogts has revealed he will lead Nigeria to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"My task is to lead Nigeria to the 2008 Africa Nations Cup and to the 2010 World Cup finals,” Vogts said. He has agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract.

60-year-old Vogts was in London to watch Nigeria's 4-1 defeat to Ghana in a friendly match on Tuesday.

Vogts, who was a World Cup winner as a player with Germany in 1974, coached his home country from 1990 to 1998 guiding them to the 1996 European title.
