FIFA World Cup 2006 - European Qualifying Group One Round Up

The Czech Republic earned themselves a World Cup play off spot after demolishing Finland 3-0 in the final game of their Group One qualifying campaign. Romania miss out, with Holland having ensured a spot in Germany courtesy of the fact they top the group. Finland looked to be dangerous opponents on paper, but on the night, Czech Republic proved their quality their travels. Tomas Jun settled early nerves by scoring in the sixth minute, before Tomas Rosicky doubled their lead in the second half. The Borussia Dortmund playmaker scored in the 51st minute before Marek Heinz added a third just seven minutes later. The battle of the bottom two in Group One saw Armenia grab a comfortable 3-0 victory on their travels to Andorra. A tight first period saw Armenia break the deadlock six minutes before the half time, when Andorra's Oscar Sonejee put through his own goal. The second half proved to be a one sided affair as Ara Hakobian doubled Armenia's advantage in the 52nd minute and then ten minutes later, he added his second of the evening. Group winners Holland finished their campaign with a disappointing 0-0 stalemate with Macedonia on home soil.
