FIFA Thinks Soft Drink & Fast Food Sponsors Are Promoting the Well-Being of Society

In another controversial statement made by Markus Siegler, FIFA's Director of Communications, the organisation said today that the colossal fizzy drinks and fast food sponsors are promoting the well-being and the good health of society.

Brands like fast-food giants McDonalds, beer brewers Budweiser and soft-drinks giants Coca-Cola which have been heavily linked with obesity and unhealthy eating were today branded by FIFA as companies which "live up to the standard" when it comes to promoting healthy food for the "society".

Even though Markus Siegler did not mention what advice he gives to his children, he played down criticism from Academic intellectuals suggesting that the companies involved have nothing to do with healthy eating.

Several scientific reports have criticised these companies about their practices and the misleading of the public about the dangers posed to their health when consuming those products.

"It is a free society and everyone is entitled to their own opinion," Siegler said. "The sponsors mentioned however are actively involved in promoting good health. We believe these companies are up to the standard, are conscious of the issues we have in our society and there is no reason that they should not be sponsors," he added.

"They have a good conscience and are valuable members of the World Cup," FIFA's Director of Communications said.
