FFA Admit Guus Hiddink Likely To Leave Socceroos After World Cup Finals After Links With England & Russia

The Football Federation Australia have admitted that Guus Hiddink is unlikely to continue as Australia's coach after the World Cup Finals this summer.

Hiddink, who also manages Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven, has been linked to the national jobs for England and Russia, and has been coaching the Socceroos on a part-time basis.

Hiddink, who back in 1988 led his native Netherlands to the World Cup semi-finals, and four years later led South Korea to the same stage of the competition, has guided Australia to the World Cup finals for the first in 32 years.

But the constant speculation on Hiddink’s appointment in other posts has led the FFA to admit that he may be due to leave after the tournament in July.

“It is unlikely Guus will be staying with us,” revealed FFA chief executive John O'Neill.

“Nothing we have talked about has indicated that he will be staying on.”

Reports in Moscow last week suggested Hiddink had signed to coach Russia but Hiddink's representatives were quick to deny the stories.

With England still to announce the successor to Sven Goran Eriksson, and Hiddink being one of the favourites to take over, it seems the door is open to many places for Hiddink.
