Feyenoord and Japan Midfielder Shinji Ono Considering Move to Sam Allardyce's Bolton WanderersSubmitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Wed, 28/12/2005 - 16:29.
A Dutch daily newspaper reports that Feyenoord FC's Shinji Ono is to join Japan team-mate Hidetoshi Nakata in English Premiership Club Bolton Wanderers. 'Big Sam' seems to be keen on getting the Japanese international onboard Bolton. Bolton's previous attempt to agree a deal with Feyenoord about Ono's transfer to the club in August turned fruitless, after negotiations broke down. Japanese club Urawa was also interested in signing the player, but Bolton's bid deals a blow to the Japanese Club's plans, as the player is keen on signing with a European Club instead of going back to the Japanese league. Shinji Ono was disappointed to hear that Feyenoord had agreed with Urawa without consulting with him. The deal was published on the Club's website earlier this month without the player's consultation. Ono joined Feyenoord in 2001 and he is considered as one of the main "success factors" when Feyenoord won the UEFA Cup in 2002. Ono's debut World Cup appearance was in the 1998 France World Cup, when he was only 18-years-old. He begun his football career in the ranks of Urawa. He missed most of the November and December action for Feyenoord due to a foot and toe injury, but was in the bench during Feyenoord's win against AZ Alkmaar last Monday. in favorites | email this page
